How One Leader Answered the Call for Hurricane Recovery Efforts in North Carolina
Colt Hogan, our Executive Sales Director for the East Coast, has traded his usual business role for something genuinely selfless — helping those in North Carolina who’ve lost so much from the devastating floods the result of the recent hurricane.
On October 9th, Colt left the comfort of his Birmingham, Ala., home and joined a dedicated recovery group in North Carolina about an hour north of Asheville, one of the most ravaged areas in Western North Carolina.
Since then, he’s been fully immersed in helping communities affected by Hurricane Helene, working around the clock to bring aid and comfort to families who have lost so much.

The hurricane left a path of severe destruction across many regions of North Carolina, with powerful winds and torrential rains causing massive flooding, widespread property damage, and extensive power outages. Homes were submerged, roads washed out, and critical infrastructure destroyed, leaving many families displaced and without basic resources. In some towns, the floodwaters reached unprecedented levels, tearing through buildings and damaging entire towns and neighborhoods.
For the last several weeks, Colt and his team have been in tough conditions—sleeping in tents in a local resident’s front yard, relying on generators to power their basecamp. When asked about the experience, Colt admitted to being tired and, in his words, “stinky,” but quickly pointed out that these minor inconveniences are nothing compared to the challenges faced by the local residents.
Colt’s U.S. Army Ranger and Combat Instructor background has been invaluable. His critical focus on managing time, space, and resources is evident in how he’s contributing to the recovery efforts, bringing organization and energy to an otherwise chaotic environment. This is the latest example of Colt’s dedication to stepping up when others need it most. His efforts highlight the humanity, resilience, and teamwork that bind communities so necessary during this time of incredible hardships.
Here at Advantage GPS, we’re incredibly proud to support Colt’s efforts and work in North Carolina. It’s a reminder that our team’s commitment extends beyond the day-to-day business world—about making a difference wherever we can. Colt’s work embodies the spirit of service that we admire, and we’re here to cheer him on every step of the way.
To Colt and his team on the ground: “Thank you for showing the strength of the human spirit and making a difference when it truly matters. Our thoughts are with you, and everyone impacted by the storm. Keep going strong; we’re behind you all the way.”
